24/7 EMERGENCY SERVICE AVAILABLE
626-621-2220A floor furnace has no filter, no blower and no ductwork. Almost nothing on a standard tune-up checklist applies to it, which is partly why so many go unserviced.

A considerable number of Eagle Rock homes are still heated by floor furnaces and wall heaters, and this equipment occupies an awkward position in the trade. It is simple enough that there is no filter to change or blower to clean, old enough that parts can be hard to source, and unfamiliar enough that plenty of technicians would rather quote a replacement than service it. So a lot of it simply never gets looked at.
That is unfortunate, because this is precisely the equipment where an annual inspection carries the most weight. These units heat by convection with no fan and no ducts, which means they depend entirely on natural draft to move combustion gases up and out. There is no mechanical assistance and no pressure switch to detect a problem. If the draft fails, nothing stops the unit running.
The checks specific to this equipment:

Part of an honest inspection is saying when servicing no longer makes sense:
A few straightforward rules on timing:
Before the heating season begins, while there is time to act on findings.
On naturally drafted combustion equipment this is not discretionary.
Moving furniture and rugs away from the grille lets the inspection be done.
You have no service history on equipment you did not previously own.
We service floor furnaces and wall heaters rather than simply quoting to replace them, and we will tell you honestly if yours has reached the end. Call Purified Air to schedule an inspection.
